A 12-member Barbados hockey team leaves the island today seeking to make the most of the opportunity in its debut appearance at the Pan American Indoor Cup in Guyana.

The Bajans, sporting a mix of experience and youth, will take to the courts for matches against hosts Guyana, Canada, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina and Mexico.

After weeks of preparation, head coach Dominic Hill said the squad had all of the raw ingredients a coach could hope for.

“Teamwork and a strong work ethic are the cornerstones of our success. We have a group of talented players who trust each other, believe in our common goals and have a strong desire to improve even when it involves personal sacrifices,” Hill said. (PR/HG)
