BWA discovers breach in South Coast sewer network
Ongoing investigation of the sewer network in the Hastings and Worthing, Christ Church area by the Wastewater Division (WWD) of the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) discovered a breach in the network system along the Hastings and Worthing, Christ Church area.
This breach was discovered as WWD crews were attempting to clear a block in the line in the Worthing area. The block was discovered during a cleaning and flushing program to address overflows on the south coast.
Due to the unique position and design of the aged south coast sewer network, special equipment and materials are needed to begin the corrective work. The BWA technical team met with the South Coast Sewage Treatment Plant work crews in an effort to formulate a plan to start the process of repairing the breach and removing the blockage.
Via the media, the Authority will provide weekly updates on the status of the work being undertaken. The BWA sincerely apologises for the inconvenience and thanks the public for its patience as it continues to work around the clock to correct the sewage challenges on the south coast. (PR)
