An engaging new online culinary series is coming soon to a computer, laptop or mobile screen near you. It’s How To Cook Like A Bajan, a new video series on Nationews.com which will be presented by the Fine Cuisine brand.

Fine Cuisine magazine is published twice a year, having first been introduced in 2011. Since then it has focused on showcasing Barbadian food and the local culinary industry.

The How to Cook Like A Bajan series will follow in that vein of highlighting the best of Barbadian cuisine and culinary talent. Chef Rhea Gilkes will demonstrate, step by step, just how to cook some of the most beloved Barbadian dishes.

Barbadian food is well loved not just by locals, but by the many visitors who come to our shores, as well as members of the Barbadian diaspora all over the world.

It is expected that the show will captivate these audiences and connect them with Barbadian cuisine. “We are really excited about this new content and we are certain that it will provide a great opportunity to showcase Bajan ingredients and of course, cooking-related products and services,” said advertising development manager, Kelly Johnally.

“We would like to sincerely thank the sponsors who readily came on board and made the series a reality; namely Courts and Rubis, along with segment sponsors Farmers Choice, Elle & Vire, Marco Polo Pasta and BakersMart.”

The How to Cook Like A Bajan recipes will also be featured throughout the season in the Sunday Sun’s Easy magazine starting this Sunday.

Recipes include traditional conkies with a tutorial on singeing banana leaves, creamy macaroni pie, bread pudding infused with chocolate and rum, glazed-baked ham, grilled ham sliders and a quick and easy pasta featuring leftovers.

The public is invited to give their feedback and submit suggestions on which recipes they would like to see featured in the next instalment of the How to Cook Like A Bajan series. For more information interested persons can contact janelleward@nationnews.com or kellyjohnally@nationnews.com. (PR)
