Traffic changes for Rihanna Drive renaming
The travelling public is asked to note that from 11 p.m. on Wednesday November 29 to 9 p.m. on Thursday November 30, a number of temporary road changes will be in place to facilitate the hosting of the Our Diamond, The Rihanna Drive Project, which will be held along Westbury Road, St Michael.
These changes are as follows:
Westbury Road and Westbury New Road will be closed to all vehicular traffic.
Motorists entering Westbury Road from the direction of President Kennedy Drive must divert at Pounders Gap.
Motorists entering Westbury Road from the direction of Deacons Road must divert at 2nd Avenue Parris Gap.
Motorists exiting 2nd Avenue Parris Gap onto Westbury Road must turn left.
Vehicles will not be allowed to enter Westbury New Road from Morris Gap or Blanch Gap.
Public service vehicles who ply Westbury Road as part of their route will be re-routed to bypass Westbury Road by using Spring Garden Highway, turning right onto Exmouth and left onto Deacons Road.
Invited guests will approach Westbury Road from the direction of President Kennedy Drive and enter Westbury Cemetery through the south gate to the allotted parking area(s). They will exit through the north gate when leaving the event.
Two-way vehicular traffic will be permitted on Pounders Gap, Grants Gap, 1st Avenue Parris Gap, 2nd Avenue Parris Gap, Morris Gap and Blanch Gap.
No person shall park or allow a vehicle to remain stationary along the emergency route or alternate route except for the purpose of picking up or setting down passengers.
The emergency route begins at Westbury New Road and continues through Westbury Road, Passage Road, Country Road, Roebuck Street, James A. Tudor Roundabout, Halls Road, Mencea Cox Roundabout, and Martindale’s Road to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
The alternate route begins at Westbury New Road and continues through Westbury Road, President Kennedy Drive, Fontabelle, Cheapside, Chapel Street, Prince Alfred Street, Broad Street, Trafalgar Street, Bridge Street, Charles Duncan O’Neal Bridge, Upper Fairchild Street, River Road, Ena Walters Roundabout and Martindale’s Road to the QEH.
