Emerald do the triple at Trinity

Article by RIA GOODMAN

Emerald House (Green) counted their third straight victory at the Trinity Academy Inter-house Athletic Championships at the National Stadium yesterday.

By a margin of 94 points, they retained the title with 639 points, while Gold (Yellow) placed second with 545 and Diamond (White) third with 427.

Victrix ludorum Zaniyah Collymore, Koen Blackman and Christian Collymore were instrumental in Emerald’s triumph, winning all their events to gain 30 points each. Collymore and Blackman shared the victor ludorum title with Trey Barker of Gold House.

In the Under-9 division, Zaniyah Collymore won the 80 metres, 100 metres and 200 metres, while Blackman, competing in the Under-13 division, won the cricket ball throw, 100 metres and 200 metres.

Christian, who is no relation to Zaniyah, dominated the track in the Under-11 division to gain gold medals in the 100, 200 and 300 events.

Barker, who also gained 30 points, became the division champion in the Under-9 division when he captured the 80, 100 and 200 metres events.

Zhada Best and Zuri Guy were named division champions in the Under 13 and Under-7 girls’ age categories, respectively.

Best contributed to Emerald’s victory, winning the 100 and 200 metres and placing second in the 400. Guy of Diamond House won the 50 metres and the tennis ball throw and gained silver in the long jump. (RG)
