North pull it off
PASSION and purpose with precision from the penalty spot paid off for St James North Sunday night as they became the new National Sports Council/Youth Development Programme Community Under-17 football champions.
Displaying determination and devotion, they came from 2-0 down to lock the scores 2-2 at the end of regulation and force extra time before eventually prevailing 5-4 on penalties over Christ Church East Central in a tension-filled and topsy-turvy final at the Briar Hall playing field.
Goalkeeper Sharad McAllister was their hero, saving two penalties while Tyrek King, captain Ronaldo Bowen and Joshua Browne converted their spot kicks for St James North, who played unbeaten throughout the tournament.
Justin Rollins and Treasure Griffith also scored for Christ Church East Central, but the first celebrations of the James North boys and their supporters were short-lived.
