Purple house will reign supreme at Holy Innocents Primary School for the next year.

Leading the St Thomas school’s annual inter-house sports for the entire day on Friday, there was no surprise when the girls and boys topped the points table with 243 points, 49 more than Orange House who racked up 194 points. Three-time champs (2015-2017) Turquoise House were only able to muster 180 points, and came third.

According to some spectators who attended the event held at Bridgefield Playing Field, it was the first time in 20 years that Purple House were able to capture the title.

Under brilliant skies, parents, siblings and other relatives took in the action on the grassy track as junior and upper junior athletes competed in events such as 50 metres, 80 metres, 100 metres, 200 metres, sack, lime and spoon and water bottle races, as well as the 4 x100 metre relays.

One of the most exciting races in the afternoon was the Junior Girls’ 4 x 100 metre relay. The team from Purple House led the entire race and were certain of a win as they headed to the finish until Orange House’s Toccari Lavia closed the gap and pipped Azaria Hackett right on the line. (GBM)
