Yellow retain Prescod crown

Yellow repeated as champions when Grantley Prescod Memorial Primary School held their sports at the Samuel Jackman Prescod Institute of Technology last Friday.

Yellow, spurred by an outstanding display of running from victrix ludorum Sharissa Browne, amassed 625 points to comfortably stave off the challenge of Red, who finished on 577, ahead of Blue (548.5) and Green (486.5).

Browne won the sack race, swept the 100, 200 and 300 metres and was second in the long jump and 600 meters to end with 51 points.

The victor ludorum was Kimani Straker, who won the cricket ball throw, long jump, 300 and 800 metres and was second in the 200 among the Under-11 Boys en route to 51 points.

Show-boater Shakoby Brathwaite was the Under-13 boys’ champion with 49 points. He triumphed in the long jump, 100, 200 and 300 metres, while Jakayla Waterman was the Under-13 Girls’ queen with 36 points after winning the 400 and 600. She was second in the 200 and long jump.

Neiya Chase won the cricket ball throw and long jump to be Under-9 Girls’ champion with 30 points. Shiloh Headley was the Under-9 Boys’ king following second places in the 80 and 100 metres and victory in the Late For School fun event for 39 points.

Shakir Yarde and Zazara Wilson were the Under-7 Boys’ and girls’ champions with 54 and 45 points, respectively (EZS)
