IT MATTERS TO MARIA: Folks fed up with burst main

For the past three months, water has been flowing down Wilson Hill, St John, and it has residents upset.

That is because they have been calling the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) repeatedly about the burst main, but up to this day, it has not been repaired.

Now the road is starting to turn green and mossy.

A resident said when he called the BWA’s hotline, he was told that they only had one compressor. However, he said, this was too long to have so much water being lost.

The main appears to be damaged underground. The water is flowing through a pipe into a well and then into a nearby gully.

When contacted, BWA manager of communications and rapid response, Joy-Ann Haigh, said the matter would be addressed. (MB)
