IT MATTERS TO MARIA: Rotten pole fears

A concerned resident in Shop Hill, St Thomas, is appealing to Flow to replace a utility pole in the area which is in danger of collapsing.

The load-bearing pole is rotting at the base which has led to a large split in the centre.

The resident said she posted a photograph of the pole on Flow’s Facebook page, accompanied by the pole number, alerting it to the damage. She received a response that the matter would be passed on to the relevant department.

However, she has become uneasy given that three months have passed and the pole had worsened.

On February 19, she again reached out to the telecommunications company, posting an updated photograph of the pole and pointing out that heavy rains had caused it to deteriorate considerably. She appealed for the situation to be given “urgent attention”.

When contacted by this column, Marilyn Sealy, Flow’s director of communications and stakeholder management, reported that the matter would be investigated immediately. (MB)
