Barbadians can now have greater access to information relating to Government with the recent launch of the Challenge to Change App.

Director of the Office of Public Sector Reform (OPSR), Charley Browne, said the app would make all the documents produced by the Ministry of the Civil Service and his department accessible from any mobile device, whether smartphone or tablet.

Browne made the comments today while making a presentation on Day Four of the Week of Excellence 2018 Programme, at Baobab Tower, Warrens, St Michael.

He told public and private sector officials attending the half-day seminar: “It is important to note that this app will result in a reduction in expenditure for the department, where in the future our publications will be electronic, with limited or no printed editions. I would urge all departments to consider electronic documents as a cost reduction option.”

He pointed out that some of the documents which are available on the app include: an orientation manual, which is a set of guidelines to sensitise new or newly re-assigned officers to a job, work unit or department; guidelines for improving customer care; guidelines for handling complaints; and contact lists of Ministers, Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Department.

The app was developed by Chief Executive Officer of Garnet Technologies, Brian Linton. (BGIS)
