Cherry: Blame it on the rain

Blame the rains. So said Anderson Cherry, owner of Reduce Quarry at Lower Estate, St George, as at least one resident complained of noxious fumes in the last few days.

“I can’t speak to the smell. I did hear the complaints but we have no smoke at all,” Cherry said when contacted by the DAILY NATION.

“I don’t know but I think because of the rain, the recent rains, there is a smell.”

Resident Carl Rayside had described the recent stench from the quarry as “suffocating”.

“It is a very nauseous smell. It makes you feel sick to the stomach.

“The whole quarry seems to act up every time. This has been going on for some time and the residents have complained, but it has not stopped,” Rayside added. (HLE)
