It will be serious business when Zane Maloney suits up for race day no. 1 of the Bushy Park Circuit Inc (BPMSI) tomorrow.

The teenaged karting sensation returned home on Thursday evening after his capture of the OK final of the WSK Super Master Series at La Conca in Italy last Sunday.

Recalling the race in Italy last Sunday, Maloney said he was happy to have won and said his team, Ricky Flynn Motorsport, have been doing an excellent job with his training and development and he is pleased with the way they are going.

“It was not all plain sailing in the pre-finals nor the finals, but the team at Ricky Flynn Motorsport leaves nothing to chance and their work paid off,” Maloney told the Saturday Sun.

The Barbadian driver had started ninth in the final and worked his way through the field of seasoned drivers by the time they reached the chequered flag.

Tomorrow’s action will start at noon and the WSK Super Master Series champion said he would not be taking things lightly, but using the home opposition to stay sharp.

“I like karting and racing at Bushy Park and thanks to my sponsors Sol Barbados, RockHard Cement and Bushy Park Barbados, I would be looking to do my best and maintain my form. Even though the competition may not be as tight and as intense as it was at La Conca last week, I would not be fooling around, but keeping busy while here,” he said.

Pointing out that Bushy Park where he started his racing career, the former Barbados Karting Association champion said he is looking forward to the competition before turning his attention to his studies before returning to Italy.

“I will be racing in two weeks’ time at La Sorda and the break now gives me the opportunity to deal with the academic side of my training and development”, he added. (TT)
