Yesterday 41-year-old Stacey Terrence Richards of # 249 Kingsland Gardens North, Christ Church, Grantley Dolar Babb, 61, of # 62 Lower Burney, St Michael and Lordon Emmanuel Marlon Charles, 29, of Powder Road, Station Hill, St Michael were jointly charged with drug and firearm offences.
The charges are possession of cannabis, trafficking of cannabis, intent to supply cannabis, importation of cannabis, possession of cocaine, trafficking of cocaine, intent to supply cocaine, and importation of cocaine.
The trio are also jointly facing five charges of possession of a firearm without a valid licence, five charges of importation of a firearm without a licence, and one joint charge of possession of ammunition without a valid permit, and importation of ammunition without a valid licence; forming a total of 20 charges.
On Tuesday, March 19, personnel from the Drug Squad, Antigun & Gangs Unit and The Barbados Coast Guard conducted a joint operation, where the Barbados Coast Guard intercepted a boat, “Sail Away” X460 off the coast of Brandon’s Beach, St Michael.
The three crewmembers that were on board along with the vessel were taken into custody by the Coast Guard. A comprehensive search of the vessel was conducted and five firearms, ammunition, cocaine and cannabis were found in false compartments within the vessel.
The weight of the cocaine is 6.5 kilogrammes with an estimated street value of $325 000.
The weight of the cannabis is 232.4 kilogrammes with an estimated street value of $929 600.
The accused are scheduled to appear in the District ‘A’ Magistrates Court today. (PR)
