A man who was caught red-handed dumping old appliances and furniture at Lower Burney, St Michael, on Sunday, was forced yesterday to clean up his mess, as well as other garbage dumped on the same spot.

A resident in the area confronted the culprit as he disposed of old appliances and furniture on the unoccupied land which was owned by the National Housing Corporation. He also posted the video on social media and alerted police after the man refused to budge when told it was not a dumping ground.

Yesterday, the truck driver, his employer and another worker used a Bobcat, tractor and truck to clean the land under the watchful eyes of an environmental health officer.

When approached, the owner would only say: “As you can see, we are cleaning the entire area.” (MB)
