Door left open for ludicrous challengers

The negative press that Barbados has been recently subjected to by international publications – highlighting what Barbados has become or is rapidly becoming – is of some concern to me. The gradual decline now appears to have become an all-consuming politically inspired tsunami.

We are being subjected to the almost total control of a tested and proven less than competent government, with the power to call or not call an election which, I and others of like mind might add, became due over 30 days ago, with this “power to call” residing in the hands of an individual who has the most to lose if he loses the election.

Meantime, the door to let in ludicrous challengers has been flung open and totally incompetent individuals have rushed in, literally dragging behind them a cadre of people who assume that based on the management styles being exhibited – lacking the academic, moral and social requirements – anyone can qualify to become a parliamentarian.

Former prostitutes now see themselves as having the necessary skills to become ministers, having been trained in the art of deception and sales of personal and treasured assets. It is almost equivalent to the life they lived and the customers they attracted, who will pay much higher prices and, not surprisingly, their area of canvassing is located very close to Bush Hill.

The five new named parties seem to have little chance of winning an election.

One two-time loser in particular is about to get fewer votes than the independent ex-prostitute.

This election will be an interesting one. Let us hope that whoever is given the right to lead recognises that day of reckoning will determine if the tsunami will be given the strength to destroy our Barbados.
