The Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU) brought schoolchildren and the world of work together yesterday as part of its career showcase and exhibition.

Coordinator Orlando “Gabby” Scott, the BWU’s senior assistant general secretary, said the event, held at Solidarity House, launched the union’s May Day celebrations under the theme The Future We Trust.

“We have invited a number of Government ministries, as well as utility companies, statutory corporations and both the Barbados Manufacturers’ Association and Small Business Association, to come and showcase their goods and services to schools.

“While May Day is the workers’ day, we like to give children an idea of what we as a country produce and hopefully inspire them as to the choices of professions out there,” he added. (CA)
