The late Lesley Barrow was a keen artist and lover of art who displayed an interest in the development of young entrepreneur artists and gave them encouragement.
Following her untimely death in 2008, Lesley’s friends acted to keep her memory alive by setting up the Lesley Legacy Foundation, which has for the past eight years presented a prize to the top graduate in the Barbados Community College’s Fine Arts Programme in Studio Arts.
Nyssa Haynes-Holder is the latest graduate to receive that award, presented by director of the Barbados Museum, Alissandra Cummins, last week, when the BCC Art Portfolio was presented at the College’s Morningside Gallery.
It was an evening when some of the older, stalwart artists mingled with, gave encouragement to, and applauded the work of the young ones following in their footsteps. (GC)
