A double strike by midfielder Shane Hermas propelled Crane and Equipment Ellerton to a welcome 3-0 victory over Compton in the opening game of a Barbados Football Association’s Premier League triple header at the Wildey Astroturf on Sunday.
After a goalless first half, the 21-year-old former St Leonard’s schoolboy netted in the 54th minute with a lob over Compton’s custodian Greg Jones after he was put through by Rosean Brathwaite.
Brathwaite scored Ellerton’s second goal in the 75th minute when he cut in from the left side and nailed a right foot shot into Jones’ far corner.
Hermas, who had a barren run all season, completed a brace in the 77th minute, when he ran onto a through ball from left wing back Zico Mascoll and beat Jones at his near post.
The victory was Ellerton’s third of the season, carrying them to 10 points from nine matches as they snapped a four-game losing streak. (EZS)
