Two men are dead after an early-morning collision along Black Rock main road near its junction with St Stephens Hill Road, St Michael, between a Transport Board Bus and a Suzuki Vitara.

Dead are Colin Dexter Clarke alias “Terry” of Chapman Street, St Michael, and Jonah King, 36, of Braids Road, Lower Carlton, St James, after the vehicle Clarke was driving struck the bus head-on.

The Transport Board Bus was travelling to Bridgetown with 14 passengers aboard while the Vitara was travelling in the opposite direction with four passengers other than the driver.

The vehicles became involved in a head-on collision resulting in fatal injuries to the driver (Clarke), and one of his passengers (King). They both died on the spot.

The other three passengers in the Vitara were transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for medical attention.

Six passengers aboard the bus complained of various injuries and were treated by the ambulance personnel at the scene and discharged. They all sought private medical attention.

Two fire tenders and eight fire officers responded to the scene. The Jaws Of Life had to be utilised to extract the deceased from the Suzuki Vitara. (PR)
