St Lucy, stand up and be counted
Barbados Labour Party candidate for St Lucy, Peter Phillips, is telling his parish residents it’s time to stand up and be counted.
“I am asking you to choose me so I can help you,” he told a medium-sized crowd at Crab Hill tonight.
“We are here to work for you. There are critical things that need to be done. The political leader and I have told you there are serious things that need to be done. Better can be done for you the people of St Lucy,” he added.
Phillips, who hails from Pie Corner, reminded those on hand he had come from humble beginnings and understood what most St Lucy folk had experienced under the Democratic Labour Party over the last team years.
According to Phillips, the parish of St Lucy had an MP over the last ten years, but never a representative in the incumbent, Denis Kellman.
“All you have been given is lip service. But we in the Barbados Labour Party are here for you. I will work on your behalf. I will not represent you through absenteeism,” he added before calling out his cell phone number. “I will be there for you, not running and ducking and hiding.”
Phillips said that in canvassing it had become clear that housing and youth unemployment were the main issues St Lucy people are currently facing. (BA)
