They went to school together; they play football together and they were friends.

And on Saturday, the parents of Daviere Agyei Ricardo Grimes and complainant Quashad Harewood, as well as a lawman, ensured that an incident did not bring that friendship to an end.

Grimes, 17, of Ivy Main Road, Ivy, St Michael, had been charged with doing serious bodily harm to Harewood with intent on April 25. He was not required to plead to the charge.

However, Harewood indicated that he was not interested in pursuing the matter.

Mohia Ma’at, who represented Grimes, explained that the two were friends before the incident.

“They went to school together; they grew up together; they played football together,” the attorney said.

“And I really admire the way the parents took hold of the situation. They sat down and discussed it and decided that this matter need not go any further,” Ma’at said. He also praised the lawman, who acted as mediator.

Magistrate Wayne Clarke dismissed the matter. (HLE)
