The Royal Barbados Police Force has commended the general behaviour of the public, supporters of political parties and individual candidates thus far ahead of tomorrow’s General Elections.
Police public relations officer acting Inspector Rodney Inniss thanked the campaign managers and officials for honoring their commitment at a previously held meeting with the senior Command of the Force.
“At that meeting campaign managers collectively pledged to work hand in hand with the police and with each other throughout the various marches, motorcades, spot meetings and major political meetings to ensure, as is customary, that the election process in Barbados remains at a consistently high standard,” Inniss said in a release.
Noting that the period has been particularly challenging on the Force’s resources; he commended officers for their hard work and commitment to national duty.
“The Electoral and Boundaries Commission has been running ads advising and educating the general public to the dos and don’ts of the election process and its rules and laws. This has helped tremendously.
“To date there has been no level of disorder throughout this campaign period,” the PRO stated.
Police officers will be posted at all Polling Stations and Polling Districts to ensure a safe environment and police will be on patrol across the island.
“From a crime prevention perspective we advise the public to continue to be observant – secure your valuables, vehicles and residences as you go about your business.
“As we enter the final hours of the 2018 Elections process – Polling Day – we advise all persons to be on your best behaviour, observe all rules and requirements of the law and the processes.
“Ever what the final outcome of the Election process, be respectful and control your passions. This is our Barbados; we must keep our national pride,” Inniss said. (PR/NB)
