Northern Star can shine

Heavyweights Northern Star and Infrared are in action on Saturday at the Garrison Savannah.

While the protagonists will be on show, the real showstopper on the card surrounds another stablemate clash featuring Bills Inc. Guineas winner Gandalf and Brave Star. The former will be looking to stamp his superiority over seven others in the 4:35 p.m. feature race.

However, with Gandalf’s Triple Crown quest not under any threat, Brave Star will be looking to exact revenge in this 1 570 metres Harmony General Insurance Breeders’ Stakes and Trophy; a Grade II event.

Gandalf ran out an easy winner of his last race, and today will be seeking a hat-trick. For this race he will have a different rider in Rasheed Hughes, the runaway leader in the jockeys’ championship

Brave Star’s jockey Rickey Walcott will be seeking a good day in the saddle as he looks to improve his form. Walcott might look to different tactics in this event to improve his chances of victory over Gandalf and Hughes.

Despite these two being favoured for another one-two finish, this is horse racing and the others will surely not give up without a fight.

Toco Man appears the best of the rest and could complete the search for a trifecta position, having won only a maiden race.

My Friend Patch has a similar profile and could fight it out for the minor places. Intethestorm could find conditions in this encounter similar to her name and might be in for a rough ride.

Second bonus

Don’t Doubt Doris got her second win last outing against much softer opposition and she now needs to take a giant step forward if she is going to spring a surprise here.

Jackmannaygap has found this crowd too hot to handle in the past, while Whatyouthink has many questions still to answer.

A clash between Northern Star and Infrared always gets the fans in a frenzy and this is expected to continue.
