It will be a battle of the North today at Empire Club, Bank Hall.

But the spotlight will be on new batting sensation Joshua Morris when his team Coleridge & Parry clash with neighbours Alexandra in anall-St Peter final of the Everton Weekes Under-13 Cricket Tournament.

That’s because second former Morris wrote his name in the record books with the first double century in the competition’s history on Tuesday.

Morris 217 not out

Batting at No.3, the dreadlocked right-hander made a career-best 217 not out off 119 balls as Coleridge & Parry thrashed perennial champions Nicholls Baking Combermere by 154 runs in their semi-final at Wanderers Club, Dayrells Road.

He smashed 21 fours and an amazing 13 sixes as Coleridge & Parry posted a mammoth 318 for two off 35 overs.

Kemani Cox gave Morris admirable support with a knock of 58 off 72 balls which contained six boundaries.

Combermere restricted to 164

Combermere, who were last year’s losing finalists, were restricted to 164 for nine as fast-medium bowler Cox returned to take four for 17. Morris, trundling off-spin, took two for 31 and medium-fast bowler Kyron King, two for 34

In the other semi-final at the Desmond Haynes Oval in Black Rock, Alexandra trounced defending champions Christ Church Foundation by 56 runs.

Captain Simmons top scores
