NCF benefits from Chinese gift

The National Cultural Foundation has benefited from a generous donation from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Barbados.

A donation of computer servers, laptops and office furniture totalling BBD$70 000 were presented to NCF’s CEO Cranston Brown and staff yesterday morning at the NCF headquarters in Wanstead,St James.

The donation of equipment was given to enhance the NCF’s infrastructure and operations.

Ambassador Yan Xiusheng said he was always overwhelmed by the passionate, open and inclusive culture of Barbados and was honoured to make the presentation.

“I hope this equipment will adequately support NCF’s capacity building in terms of organising cultural and festival events, as well as promoting the development of cultural and creative industry of Barbados,” Xiusheng said.

He added that the Chinese Embassy in Barbados had maintained sound cultural exchanges and cooperation with the NCF over the years and he hoped it would continue.

“. . . . My colleagues and I sincerely thank the NCF for its proactive engagement in promoting cultural exchanges with China and Barbados and enhancing friendship between our two peoples,” he added.

Browne thanked the Chinese Embassy for its generous contribution and reconfirmed the NCF’s commitment to collaborating on a mutually beneficial exchange in the future.

“Today’s presentation represents one of the developmental contributions through a gift to the NCF and is in recognition of our genuine appreciation of their support,” Browne said. (DB)
