The suspended clerical officer who stole $1 118 500 from the Psychiatric Hospital will serve a ten-year prison term.

Justice Michelle Weekes handed down the sentence earlier in the No. 2 Supreme Court.

Anderson Ryan Ince, 43, of Hannays, St Lucy, and formerly of Yearwood Road, Sugar Hill, St Joseph had denied stealing the sum of money from the hospital, the accounts of which were maintained by the Central Bank, sometime between August 1, 2003 and August 1, 2005.

He also denied engaging in money laundering, with transactions totalling $1 118 500 which were the proceeds of crime between the same periods.

A nine-member jury had found him guilty on both counts on October 16, last year.

He will serve nine years and 111 days on both charges to run concurrently, since the 254 days spent on remand was taken into consideration. (RA)
