Double strike for Braves
Carlton and A1 Braves have done the double in dominoes.
After first winning the Four-Hand League, Braves captured the Emmerson Mellows knockout title by thrashing HIV Hillside 71-36 in a one-sided game last Thursday night at the WA WA Bar in Bush Hall.
The consistent pair of Ralph Bailey and Carolyn Harbin-Goddard registered a perfect 21 points by winning all seven of their sixes.
It completed an unbeaten display from the Braves, who showed no affection for Peace and Love in the quarter-finals with a 71-55 whipping.
The Braves were also in devastating form in the semi-finals, trouncing French Village 73-53 while Hillside secured their spot in the final by beating R.L. Seale QEH.
In other news, Dennis Nowell and Sherry-Ann Dawson have been named captain and vice-captain, respectively, of the Barbados team which will compete at the World Council Of Dominoes Federation Tournament in Guyana, October 4-14.
Dawson, who now represents Peace and Love, has been vice-captain for the last 18 years while Nowell, who plays for Welchman Hall was captain in 2012 and 2014 but was replaced in 2016 by Hamilton Durant. (EZS)
