Brawl in cemetery

Management of the Coral Ridge Memorial Gardens is seeking legal guidance as a result of a fracas early Sunday morning on their grounds involving patrons who attended a fete in a quarry nearby which started on Saturday.

Several videos surfaced on social media in which young men were seen in a brawl and hurling rocks and other weapons at each other after the popular Puff of Colour event.

President of the Coral Ridge Group Peter Griffith said this was not the first time such an incident had taken place after the popular Crop Over event, this time leaving thousands of dollars in damage in its wake.

“We are consulting with our attorneys on this occasion because the damage on this occasion is a lot of money and we will need to see how we can recoup this on the behalf of our clients.

“We have had a number of instances in previous years where cars came in and did stunts through the cemetery and all kind of things before. We get instances where people throw cups and paper wrappings all through the fence and we have to be cleaning up all the time, at our expense, all the time,” Griffith said. (DB)
