Call for more courts
Barbados still rule things on the junior regional squash courts.
And after retaining the overall title at the Caribbean Junior Squash Championships in Jamaica on Saturday, manager Katheryn Stewart said the triumph was achieved in the face of challenges and called for more courts to further develop the sport.
Competing at the Liguanea Club in Kingston, the Bajan girls sealed their success by completing a 4-1 victory over Guyana in the final, while the boys had to fight tooth and nail before overcoming Guyana 3-2.
Barbados’ success, which also included six gold, two silver and two bronze in the individual competition, followed their capture of the overall title at the Pan Am Junior Championships in Brazil last month. (HG)
