Overall crime is down in Barbados.

That’s the word coming from Commissioner of Police Tyrone Griffith who this morning reported crime from January to June this year had fallen 4.3 per cent.

In a press conference at Police Headquarters in Fairchild Street, Bridgetown, Griffith said there had been 4 054 reported incidents of crime.

This was compared to the 4 236 incidents reported for the same time frame last year.

“This analysis shows a decline in all categories of major crime for the period January to June 2018,” Griffith said.

“This includes murder, rape, robbery, theft on the person and aggravated burglary,” he added.

Despite there being 17 murders during this time frame compared to 19 last year, the Commissioner said this category continued to be the major concern. (AD)
