South Coast traffic diversions tonight, tomorrow
The Barbados Water Authority (BWA) will conduct a Condition Assessment of the sewer network along Worthing, Christ Church.
This extensive investigation is critical to the resolution of the south coast sewage crisis and will be carried out tonight Thursday, July 26 from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. tomorrow Friday, July 27.
This assessment will be done by the BWA in collaboration with energy personnel from the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources. A specialist from overseas will also assist with the investigation.
The team will be conducting a non-invasive geo-physical survey within the area of the Graeme Hall Nature Sanctuary and the old Scotiabank building, using ground penetrating radar equipment.
The public is therefore advised that the stretch from Graeme Hall Nature Sanctuary to the old Scotia Bank building will be closed. Vehicular traffic travelling eastwards along Highway 7 should divert at the junction of Highway 7 and Rendezvous Road and proceed along Rendezvous Road and rejoin Highway7 via the ABC Highway and Top Rock.
Likewise, traffic travelling in a westerly direction is advised to divert at Top Rock roundabout and rejoin Highway 7 via the Rendezvous Road.
Local access from the east will be allowed between Top Rock Roundabout and the Worthing Beach Facility and from the west, between the Esso Service Station and the Chicken Barn building.
Traffic wardens will be deployed to assist the public with the diversions.
Motorists and pedestrians should make every effort to avoid this area.
The BWA sincerely apologises to the public for the inconvenience caused. (PR)
