Verla ‘must be given time’
She will need time. That’s the reaction coming from various political figures as they have declared the newly elected Democratic Labour Party (DLP) president Verla DePeiza must be given time to stabilise the party.
“My feeling is that anybody coming in at this time would have to be a stopgap, with the potential to be more than a stopgap. But their potential would be demonstrated in what they do in the role of stop gap,” Political scientist Dr George Belle told THE NATION.
“If they can facilitate a proper basis for judging who would be useful in the future, then they would have performed a positive role for the party and possibly for themselves.
“So I think that is where you have to give her time in order to see what she does in relation to the role that she is compelled to play,” he added. (AD)
