Police identify body found in well

Police are investigating the discovery of a body of a male which was found inside a well at Cottage, St George.

The well was located a few meters off the carriageway in a bushy area at the junction of Bridge Cot and Cottage Road, directly opposite The Cottage Plantation House.

The body has since been identified as that of 50-year-old John Pollard of Newbury, St George.

Police at Boarded Hall Station received a report around 2 p.m. yesterday, that a car had appeared to be involved in an accident and it was in a ditch a few meters off the road.

Police responded, made a search and discovered the car in the bushy area. Further on scene investigations were carried out which led to the discovery of the body in the well.

Rescue personnel from Barbados Fire Service − two fire tenders and twelve firemen, and 12 soldiers from Barbados Defence Force recovered the body from the base of the well.

Police are treating this as an unnatural death and are appealing to anyone who may have any knowledge of the circumstances surrounding this incident to contact Boarded Hall Police Station at 437-4311, Police Emergency at 211 or any Police Station. (PR)
