Gems open with ’easy’ clash
The Bajan Netball Gems begin their quest for the 2019 World Cup today with what can be considered the first and easiest question on their AFNA Qualifier test paper with a game against Argentina at 8 p.m. at the Wildey Gymnasium.
With all of the mock exams and late night and early morning revisions under their bibs, the 12th ranked Gems should pass with flying colours when they play Argentina who have not played enough test matches to have a world ranking.
Furthermore, the South Americans, who are more noted for their football prowess, boast a squad where more than half of the team will be competing at this high level for the first time.
In addition, with Argentina’s team average of around three years’ experience, even Barbados rookie Brianna Holder at 17 years has been playing netball longer. (KB)
