Cry for city toilets

An irate Barbadian says Government needs to address the lack of public bathrooms after watching an elderly woman urinate in a City alley this week.

Carl Goodridge said he was walking through Amen Alley, just off Spry Street, on Monday, just after noon, when he saw the woman who appeared to be in her 60s, tidying herself.

She was telling another woman she would not be returning to one of the supermarkets in Bridgetown because she was refused when she asked to use the toilet. She said she was told the facility was for staff only.

“No woman or man should have to go through Amen Alley to do their business in a public road where people are going to and fro. It is embarrassing,” the 77-year-old told the NATION, adding the sight made him think of his deceased mother. (SAT)
