‘Trophy would be tonic’
Capturing the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup could revive the spirit of the West Indies people and the game, says Jason Holder.
The West Indies Test and One-Day International (ODI) captain was speaking on Tuesday at Kensington Oval, one of the stops on the Nissan Trophy Tour, which showcases the grand prize in the build-up to next year’s 50-overs tournament.
“It would mean a lot, not only to us as players but also to the Caribbean people,” Holder said.
“Obviously, we have been plagued by a number of negative things in the light of West Indies cricket over the last couple years, so it would be something very positive,” he said. (RG)
