Tropical Storm Isaac is now moving into the eastern Caribbean Sea.

At 11 a.m., Isaac was located near 14.9N 61.8W or about 50 miles (75 km) southwest of Dominica. Maximum sustained winds remain near 45 mph or 75 km/h. Storm force winds extend 160 miles (260 km) from the centre. Isaac continues to weaken as it moves westward at 20 mph or 31 km/h.

The centre of Isaac passed about 150 miles to the north of Barbados around 6 a.m. this morning bringing an increase in clouds and showers across the island. Showers, isolated thunderstorms and occasional gusty winds will continue to affect Barbados today and into tonight.

As a consequence a flood-watch is now in effect for Barbados until 6 p.m. today, Thursday, September 13.

A flood watch means that flooding is possible within the watch area.

The small-craft warning will remain in effect until 6 a.m. Friday, September 14.

A small-craft warning means in this case that surface winds greater than or equal to 25 knots and/or seas equal to or greater than 3 metres (10ft) are already affecting or expected to affect the marine area.

The high-surf advisory has been discontinued. (PR)
