The Barbados Private Sector Association (BPSA) announced today the election of Edward Clarke, as the new chairman of the Association’s Board of Directors with immediate effect.

Clarke is the executive vice president and General Manager-Barbados, Sagicor Life Inc. He is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and is a certified internal auditor with more than 30 years’ experience in the field of auditing and finance. Prior to his election as chairman, he led the business of the Barbados Private Sector Association, following the voluntary resignation of Charles Herbert. Clarke also served in the capacity as the President of the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

In accepting his appointment as Chairman, Clarke said: “My objective is to build on the foundation of strong advocacy and lobbying by the prior heads of the Barbados Private Sector Association on behalf of the private sector. I am aware of the challenges we face as a nation which have also impacted not only the vibrancy of the local private sector but all Barbadians as well. It is therefore important for The Barbados Private Sector Association under my leadership to actively participate in the oversight of our economic recovery efforts while being engaged in the revitalizing and growth of our economy.”

As Chairman, Clarke will lead the umbrella body of private sector associations in Barbados both at the national level and within the Social Partnership of Barbados. (PR)
