A resolute 69 from Cherran Thompson laid the foundation for St Joseph Cultural’s exciting six-run victory over Newbery Province in the Barbados Cricket League’s Garfield Sobers Super Cup Twenty20 final on Sunday.

Batting first before a large crowd at BNOC’s Woodbourne ground, St Joseph Cultural slipped to 21 for two in the third over before recovering to post 162 for four.

Opener Thompson dropped anchor with fellow Lodge schoolboy Ryshon Williams in a stand that realised 81 for the third wicket off ten overs.

Thompson hit five fours and two sixes off 60 balls to keep the innings together, while Williams hit a cameo 34, including a brace of fours and sixes, off 25 balls. (LY)
