North Stars Cricket Club is getting a bad rap. So says president Vernon Wilkinson after recent media reports wrongfully pinned last month’s shooting in Harrisons, St Lucy, at the actual cricket grounds.

Wilkinson’s comments come following a decision by the organisers of the Guardian Group Herman Griffith Primary Schools’ Cricket Competition not to stage matches at the North Stars ground due to a request from school officials.

“I am very disappointed that it was circulated that this incident happened at North Stars because I believe it has negatively affected a club that was built by the people for the people to serve our community,” said Wilkinson.

“The shooting didn’t take place on North Stars property at all. First of all we have an outside fence, and then to get on the field you have to come through another gate altogetherso for anyone to print that something happened on North Stars ground is very inaccurate,” he said. (JM)
