Ministry of Education to hold parent information sessions
Parents of secondary school students will get the opportunity to learn more about the teaching methods used in their children’s classrooms during two Parent Information Sessions being held by the Ministry of Education’s Skills for the Future Programme.
The sessions, entitled: Learning English and Mathematics in the 21st Century, will take place on Tuesday, November 20, at The St Michael School, Martindale’s Road, St Michael and on Thursday, November 22, at The St Leonard’s Boys’ Secondary School, Richmond Gap, St Michael. Both sessions run from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
They will be conducted by representatives from the University of New Brunswick, which has been contracted to train selected teachers from the secondary schools where the Skills for the Future Program is implemented, in addition to some trainers from the Erdiston Teachers’ Training College. Participants will be exposed to various strategies, approaches, methodologies and interventions that may be used to teach literacy and numeracy across the secondary school curriculum. (BGIS)
