Nation 45 and growing
It was an afternoon for reminiscing and smiles at Nation House, Fontabelle, St Michael, as staff and a few customers were surprised with tokens of appreciation in honour of the 45th anniversary of the Nation Newspapers, which began operations on November 23, 1973.
Senior management spent a portion of the day yesterday interacting with team members and sharing personal messages of gratitude for their loyal and stellar service over the years.
Valerie Hope, Head of Marketing & Communication – Nation Group, said: “This year, customer appreciation will be held on Wednesday, November 28, with a staff function to follow on the day before Independence. We, however, wanted to make sure that we marked the newspaper’s actual anniversary date in some way, and what better way than to surprise the amazing team that helped the company to achieve this special milestone. We wanted them to know how much they are each valued.”
Under the anniversary theme 45 Years Strong, celebrations will continue until the end of the year and throughout 2019.
“We thank the public for their support and invite everyone to join us for other upcoming events: the Nation Funathlon, which will take place tomorrow in Jubilee Gardens from 3 p.m., and our annual church service which will be held at 8:45 a.m., at St Mary’s Church in Bridgetown, a stone’s throw away from the first base of operation for the Nation Newspapers. We will also be launching an exciting community initiative in the new year,” Hope added. (PR)
