SOCIAL SCENE: 43rd Sir Winston Scott Memorial Lecture
Top figures working in Barbados’ health care system were at the Frank Collymore Hall for this year’s 43rd Sir Winston Scott Memorial Lecture delivered by director of the Pan American Health Organisation, Dr Carissa Etienne.
The annual lecture in memory of Barbados’ first native Governor General, the late Sir Winston Scott, has over the years brought distinguished personalities to the Frank Collymore Hall stage to speak on a wide range of topics, and has filled the hall with regular patrons who look forward to the event year after year.
Governor General Dame Sandra Mason was among the guests this year as well as distinguished members of the medical fraternity such as Sir Trevor Hassell. Chief Executive Officer of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Dr Dexter James; acting Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr Kenneth George; chairman of the QEH board; Juliette Bynoe-Sutherland; and members of the Scott family, Pamela Hope and her daughter Dr Camille Hope; all mingled and chatted during the cocktail reception that followed the lecture.
