The key for WI
CONSISTENCY is the key for Jason Holder and the West Indies if they are to grab victory in the opening Test against England at Kensington Oval.
So says interim head coach Richard Pybus, who was addressing members of the media yesterday on the grounds of the “mecca” ahead of the first day on Wednesday.
It’s the first time the West Indies will play with Pybus heading the coaching staff after he served as director of cricket and high-performance director before being appointed following Stuart Law’s resignation.
However, the English-born coach, who will also lead the regional side into the ICC World Cup later this year, said his players have to put in a steady performance with both the bat and ball to gain a positive result against Joe Root’s world No. 2 ranked England.
“We have to play really consistent cricket, session by session, day by day. England is a great challenge for us and we are going to need to be at our best. They have depth all the way through and we need to meet that and excel,” he said. (AGB)
