WI opt to bat first in opening ODI against England

BRIDGETOWN – The West Indies won the toss and opted to bat against England in the first Colonial Medical Insurance One-Day International at Kensington Oval here Wednesday.

West Indies omitted Kemar Roach, Fabian Allen and Sheldon Cottrell from their squad, handing maiden One-Day caps to opener John Campbell and middle order batsman Nicholas Pooran. Meanwhile, England excluded Alex Hales, Tom Curran, David Willey and Joe Denly from their touring party. (EZS)

West Indies: Jason Holder (captain), Chris Gayle, John Campbell, Shai Hope, Darren Bravo,  Shimron Hetmyer, Nicholas Pooran, Carlos Brathwaite, Ashley Nurse, Devendra Bishoo and Oshane Thomas.

England: Eoin Morgan (captain), Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, Liam Plunkett, Adil Rashid and Mark Wood.
