The defending champ is looking to create more history in tomorrow’s Sandy Lane Gold Cup.
Four-time winner of the most prestigious horse race in the Caribbean, Jalon Samuel, is not satisfied with being named among Jonathan Jones, Venice Richards and Patrick Husbands who have all won four times.
After last year’s stunning victory onboard Sir Dudley Digges cemented him as the second local jockey to capture a hat-trick of wins in the Gold Cup after Jones did the trick with Blast Of Storm in 2000, 2001 and 2002, Samuel is targeting a fourth straight Gold Cup title.
When a NATION team visited the Garrison Savannah yesterday morning Samuel was going through his paces ahead of the bigrace day.
“I’m pretty confident, everything is going good and the way it supposed to be and I’m just hoping for the best of luck. We have been doing some light preparations, we already put in the most important work back in Florida so it is nothing major here to be done,” he said.
Samuel, who will pilot Night Prowler in the signature race, declared that he was going after the record of most Gold Cup wins. (AGB)
