Gold Cup star in the making?
The historic Garrison Savannah is usually a good hunting ground for a Night Prowler looking to pay good dividends.
Come Saturday around 4:30 p.m., the 38th running of the Grade I Sandy Lane Barbados Gold Cup over 1 800 metres promises to be a most open affair.
Throughout history, people have followed the Northern Star to good effect, but it will take a Brave Star to go all out on him winning without reservations. Night Prowler, a Kentucky-bred chestnut gelding trained by Saffie Joseph Jr, specifically flown into Barbados from Florida, appears to have all the variables.
He is the class horse, and his jockey, Jalon Samuel, is the best, in addition to which, Sir David Seale, owner of Night Prowler, is the Gold Cup’s most decorated owner, counting seven wins to date. Samuel who has a prolific association with this prestigious cup, is tipped to register a record fifth Gold Cup victory.
