The young Bajan Tridents are ripe and ready after securing a spot in the upcoming Concacaf Under-17 Championships in Florida in May.

And according to head coach Renaldo “Pee Wee” Gilkes, while this is a just reward for the boys, there is still a lot of preparation to be done.

“This is a reward for the hard work the boys would have put in at the Under-15 level, particularly when we went to Florida and finished second in Division Two at the Under-15 Championships in 2017. So I think the boys earned the right to be among such illustrious company.

“We’re greatly and optimistically looking forward to the challenge. We believe that we’re capable enough of making an impact, and if it be God’s will, through our hard work, that we will qualify for the next round of the Qualifiers and more importantly onto the World Cup,” he told NATION SPORT in a recent interview after a training session between the youngsters and the senior national team at the Barbados Football Association’s (BFA) Wildey Turf.
