Without Warrens

From heroes to no-shows, life has really come full circle for Warrens.

Just four years removed from winning their last top flight basketball title, Pan American International Insurance Warrens won’t even be contesting the Co-operators General Insurance Premier League after failing to field a team for this season.

An initial fixture for the first round of games didn’t include the former champs before club spokesman Peter Alleyne and Barbados Amateur Basketball Association (BABA) secretary Charlene Griffith both confirmed the news yesterday ahead of next week’s start to the league.

According to Alleyne, Warrens were not able to meet the requirement of eight players needed to register a team for competition although the club was still hoping to field squads in both the First and Second Division leagues. (JM)
